The CDA serves hardworking parents who are striving to build economic security for their families despite daunting challenges. Our family support services include:
- Generous tuition scholarships based on household income and size to keep tuition affordable for low-income working parents
- Critical Stop-Gap scholarships for temporary support of families in crisis or transition (such as a job loss or serious illness)
- Bi-annual parent-teacher conferences and continuous communications so that the parents and CDA act as partners in the child’s education.
- Spring and fall parenting education seminars with an emphasis on positive parenting, age-appropriate expectations, effective discipline techniques and other information to foster well-functioning families
- Family support and referral services to address a child’s special needs or other challenges facing the family
- Family-friendly events to foster parent involvement in their child’s education, such as Black History Month and Cinco de Mayo celebrations, End-of-Summer Picnic, and children’s performances.
