Apogee Scholarship Fund

The Child Development Association has partnered with Apogee Georgia School Choice Scholarship Fund.

This program enables Georgia residents and corporations the opportunity to designate a portion of their state tax liability to the school's scholarship fund.

It's easy and you can file directly on-line at Apogee Georgia Choice Scholarship Fund.

It's incredibly easy!

Couples may redirect up to $2,500 of their state tax liability and individuals may redirect up to $1,000. C-Corporations may redirect up to 75% of their state income tax liability. Simply fill out 2 VERY SHORT forms and you're done!

For a quick overview, check out this VIDEO from Apogee Scholarship Fund.

READY TO PARTICIPATE? Click here to access the online paperless process or to download paper versions of the forms.

Why should I participate?

  • It requires NO direct out-of-pocket costs
  • Instead of all of your state tax liability going into the state's general coffer, you can redirect a portion of it to the Child Development Association.
  • You provide direct income to the CDA and support all our CDA families.

And if you're an AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) filer, in addition to your state tax credit you can also claim a charitable-contribution deduction on your federal return. So you actually make money with your participation!

When should I participate?

NOW! 2013 Tax Credit funds are expected to be depleted as early as May, 2013.

I usually don't owe additional taxes when I file; should I still participate?

Yes! You don't have to owe taxes at the end of the year to participate.

You can participate as long as one of these apply:

  • You have Georgia income taxes taken out of your pay
  • You pay Georgia estimated income taxes
  • You have a C-Corporation that pays Georgia income taxes

The Tax Credit allows you to receive a dollar-for-dollar credit against your total Georgia tax liability for the year.

Let's say you pay $3,000 in taxes to GA over the course of a year. The Tax Credit allows a married couple to redirect up to $2,500 of those dollars from Georgia to the CDA. ($1,000 limit for individuals)

Why would I not participate?

  • If your annual state tax liability is less than $1,000 for an individual or $2,500 for a couple (check your paystub for your state deductions)
  • If you can't afford to set aside the above amount for several months before it is credited back to you at tax time.

But remember, you can participate at less than the full amount and still play an important role in helping CDA receive its share of Tax Credit funds!

May I designate who I would like my gift to go to?

No, funds given to the GA Tax Credit may not be directed to a particular student.
